Fire and Emergency New Zealand (FENZ) carried out an investigation out at the time of the incident and concluded the root cause of the fire was within the switchboard. The property manager confirmed that there had been no electrical work carried out recently.

WorkSafe Energy Safety requested pictures and a fire report from FENZ, and the information supplied showed that the cause of the fire was likely to have been within the switchboard.

Energy Safety closed the investigation on the basis of the lack of information available, and will take no further action.
